Aylesbury & District Junior Netball League

Aylesbury Junior Netball League provides the opportunity for players from School Year 5 to year school Year 9 to continue with their enjoyment of the sport outside of school hours. The League commences in September and continues until May. Games are held on a Saturday morning at Bedgrove Community Centre Outdoor Courts.

The game of High 5 is played by boys and girls in year 5 & 6 in accordance with the AENA player development policies. Although these players are put into teams intended for friendly matches, the emphasis is on coaching and training sessions to promote a positive pleasurable and progressive introduction to netball. Players are invited to represent AJNL at local High 5 tournaments throughout the season.

Players in year 7, 8 & 9 play a mixture of competitive matches with coaching & training sessions aimed at improving individual skills and encouraging player development. All sessions are run by qualified EN Level 1 & Level 2 coaches. All age groups are given the opportunity to work towards the appropriate Netball Skills Award. These age groups are also invited to represent AJNL at local tournaments.

At the end of the season the Aylesbury Junior League holds a tournament for all members. A presentation evening/disco is held to celebrate the players/teams achievements during the season.  Trophies, player’s medals, skills award certificates and badges are presented to the players.

The aim of the Aylesbury Junior Netball League is to: offer coaching, umpiring, training and competitive opportunities in netball. To promote the club within the local community and to ensure a duty of care is given to all its members. To provide all its services in a way that is fair to everyone. To ensure that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment and that equal opportunities be given to Ethnic minority groups across the community. AJNL has recently been awarded a Bronze CAPS accreditation by England Netball to show that it is a well organised and safe club for youth players to join.

The Junior League always welcomes new coaches, umpires and volunteers to help with the running of the league.

The Aylesbury Junior Netball League 2008/2009 season will commence provisionally on the 13th September 2008. Registration details and dates will be advertised in the Local Bucks Herald and circulated to all schools prior to September 08

AYLESBURY YOUTH NETBALL LEAGUE

The Aylesbury Youth League has been running successfully since 2006. The Youth League is closely linked to the Aylesbury Junior Netball League and provides an opportunity for players to continue playing netball within their own age groups. The League supports the England Netball principles by encouraging the development of U16 & U19 leagues locally. The League is open to all players between the ages of 14 to 19. There are two Divisions: Age 19 and under, and Age 16 and under.

Senior Clubs are encouraged to enter youth teams in these age groups, especially those clubs who may be interested in entering the Regional League. The Youth League will provide competitive games from September to December for these teams and act as a qualifying league. Counties will be asked to determine their two clubs to go forward to the Regional League from January to April 2009.

Players can register as a single player or as a player in a specified team (e.g. School Team or club team). Those players who are not registered in a specific team will where possible be allocated to a team prior to the start of the league.

Each team has a specified main contact. The cost of registration for September to December is approx £20, which covers Court Fees, etc.

The League runs on a Thursday evening with breaks for half term and Christmas. Games are played indoors at John Colet School between September and April.  During the summer games are played on the outdoor courts at Bedgrove Community Centre.  AENA rules apply to the League and appropriate netball kit is encouraged to be worn at all times. Equipment is provided by the Aylesbury Youth Netball League.

The league encourages new umpires/trainee umpires and qualified umpires to attend games and practice their skills.

Details of the League will be advertised to all schools clubs and Leagues in September 08.
